Quasi 4-8 Subdivision Surfaces
This paper presents a new scheme for subdivision surfaces that is based on four-directional meshes. It combines geometry-sensitive refinement with convolution smoothing. The scheme has a simple, efficient implementation and generates well-shaped meshes which converge to smooth surfaces. keywords: subdivision schemes, four-directional meshes, quincunx lattice, refinenement, smoothing.
متن کاملMass redistribution causes the structural richness of ion-irradiated surfaces.
We show that the "sputter patterning" topographical instability is determined by the effects of ion impact-induced prompt atomic redistribution and that erosion--the consensus predominant cause--is essentially irrelevant. We use grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering to measure in situ the damping of noise or its amplification into patterns via the linear dispersion relation. A model ba...
متن کاملSURFACES WITH K 2 = 8, pg = 4 AND CANONICAL INVOLUTION.
The aim of this paper is to classify regular minimal surfaces S with K = 8 and pg = 4 whose canonical map factors through an involution (short: having a canonical involution). The study of surfaces with geometric genus pg = h (S,ΩS) = 4 began with Enriques’ celebrated book Le superficie algebriche ([Enr]), where he summarized his research of over fifty years. By standard inequalities, minimal s...
متن کاملDynamics of secondary ion emission: Novel energy and angular spectrometry
A new spectrometer has been developed based on the combination of standard time-of-flight technique and position sensitive delay line detectors. The basic features of the spectrometer, particularly of the multi-hit capable detector, are described. To demonstrate the performance of this new system, the dynamic emission characteristics, i.e. the threedimensional velocity distribution, of desorbed...
متن کاملExperimental Studies on Grooved Surfaces to Suppress Secondary Electron Emission
Grooved surfaces are effective to suppress the secondary electron emission, and can be a promising technique to mitigate the electron cloud effect in positron/proton storage rings. Aiming for the application in a dipole-type magnetic field, various shapes of triangular grooved surfaces have been studied at KEK. The grooves tested here have vertex angles of 20−30°, depths of 2.5−5.0 mm, and vert...
